As Health Officer, Angela is responsible for the enforcement of state and local health codes as well as assisting the local Boards of Health with policy formation. She attends Board of Health meetings and reports on the happenings in the municipalities. She also supervises nursing staff, the Registered Environmental Health Specialists and the Health Educator to ensure needs are being met in the municipalities. Angela investigates and follows up on complaints and public health emergencies. In addition to local public health concerns, Angela is part of a countywide committee to prepare for pandemic influenza or any other widespread public health emergency.
As Registered Environmental Health Specialists, Gail, Gary and Sabrina inspect food establishments to ensure they are following guidelines set forth in Chapter 24 of the New Jersey State Health Code. They also inspect public pools. They approve new septic and well plans and inspect existing septic systems and wells as needed. They follow up on up on food complaints and other public health related complaints. Gail also teaches the Food Handler classes that are required for all food handlers employed at food establishments.
Pat and Carmen handle all Registrar duties at the Commission. These duties include issuing licenses for marriage, domestic partnerships and civil unions. They also provide certified copies of birth marriage and death certificates for those events that occurred in Midland Park, Old Tappan and Waldwick.
Sabrina provides health education programs and materials to the communities served by NWBRHC including schools, industry and community agencies. These programs address the specific health education needs of each community. She also acts as a resource for health information to the staff and residents of the communities.
